1大地と諸天が「取って代わられる」ことには、①その性質が変化する、②別の物と取り換えられる、という説がある。①の説の場合、大地は「丘が平坦になり、山々が粉々になり、広く伸ばされ」、諸天は「太陽と月が巻き込まれ、星々が落下する（巻き込む章1－2参照）」あるいは「時には解けた鉛のように（階段章８参照）、時には解けた脂のように（慈悲あまねき*お方章３７参照）なったりする」。②の説の場合、大地と取り換えられるものは「地獄の架け橋（鉄章12とその訳注を参照）」「純白の薄いパンのような、ピンク色のかった白色の大地（アル＝ブハーリー６５21参照）」、また「大地は銀、天は金となる」（アル＝クルトゥビー９：３８３－３８４参照）「諸天は楽園となる」（イブン・カスィール４：５21参照）といった諸説もある。
