وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلرُّوحِ قُلِ ٱلرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّى وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا٨٥

And they ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair [i.e., concern] of my Lord. And you [i.e., mankind] have not been given of knowledge except a little."

1El término ruh رُوح (espíritu) mencionado en este versículo es descrito en el texto árabe como procedente de una orden (amr) de Dios. Esto no implica que el espíritu sea parte de la esencia divina, sino que su creación ocurre por el mandato directo de Dios. En la teología islámica, el espíritu es una creación de Dios, honrada por Su atribución, pero no divina en sí misma. Esta aclaración es fundamental, ya que en ciertas corrientes místicas y gnósticas se sostiene la idea de que el alma o el espíritu serían una “chispa divina” o una parte del Creador. El islam rechaza esta concepción: La esencia de Dios no se fragmenta ni habita en Sus criaturas. Dios es absolutamente distinto y trascendente respecto de Su creación, y el espíritu humano, aunque noble, sigue siendo un ser creado dependiente de Dios.
2Todo conocimiento descubierto será siempre pequeño comparado con la dimensión de los secretos y misterios del universo, todos abarcados por el conocimiento del Creador, el Eterno. Porque Su conocimiento es infinito, mientras que la comprensión humana es limitada.
