وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَرِيقٌ فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِى ٱلسَّعِيرِ٧

4आयत में मक्का को उम्मुल क़ुरा कहा गया है। जो मक्का का एक नाम है जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ "बस्तियों की माँ" है। बताया जाता है कि मक्का अरब की मूल बस्ती है और उसके आस-पास से अभिप्राय पूरा भूमंडल है। आधुनिक भुगोल शास्त्र के अनुसार मक्का पूरे भूमंडल का केंद्र है। इसलिए यह आश्चर्य की बात नहीं की क़ुरआन इसी तथ्य की ओर संकेत कर रहा हो। सारांश यह है कि इस आयत में इस्लाम के विश्वव्यापी धर्म होने की ओर संकेत किया गया है।
