4(11-15) इन आयतों में समूद जाति का ऐतिहासिक उदाहरण देकर दूतत्व (रिसालत) का महत्व समझाया गया है कि नबी इस लिए भेजा जाता है कि भलाई और बुराई का जो स्वभाविक ज्ञान अल्लाह ने इनसान के स्वभाव में रख दिया है उसे उभारने में उसकी सहायता करे। ऐसे ही एक नबी जिन का नाम सालेह था समूद की जाति की ओर भेजे गए। परंतु उन्होंने उनको नहीं माना, तो वे ध्वस्त कर दिए गए। उस समय मक्का के मूर्ति पूजकों की स्थिति समूद जाति से मिलती जुलती थी। इसलिए उनको सालेह नबी की कथा सुनाकर सचेत किया जा रहा है कि सावधान! कहीं तुम लोग भी समूद की तरह यातना में न घिर जाओ। वह तो हमारे नबी सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम की इस प्रार्थना के कारण बच गए कि ऐ अल्लाह! इन्हें नष्ट न कर। क्योंकि इन्हीं में से ऐसे लोग उठेंगे जो तेरे धर्म का प्रचार करेंगे। इसलिए कि अल्लाह ने आप सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि सल्लम को सारे संसारों के लिए दया बना कर भेजा था।
