1आयत संख्या 1 में 'अह़द' शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है जिसका अर्थ है, उसके अस्तित्व एवं गुणों में कोई साझी नहीं है। यहाँ 'अह़द' शब्द का प्रयोग यह बताने के लिए किया गया है कि वह अकेला है। वह वृक्ष के समान एक नहीं है जिसकी अनेक शाखाएँ होती हैं। आयत संख्या 2 में 'समद' शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है, जिसका अर्थ है अब्रण होना। अर्थात जिसमें कोई छिद्र न हो जिससे कुछ निकले, या वह किसी से निकले। और आयत संख्या 3 इसी अर्थ की व्याख्या करती है कि न उसकी कोई संतान है और न वह किसी की संतान है।
