3(12-16) इन आयतों में बताया गया है कि अल्लाह की पकड़ के साथ ही जो क्षमा याचना करके उसपर ईमान लाए, उसके लिए क्षमा और दया का द्वार खुला हुआ है। क़ुरआन ने इस कुविचार का खंडन किया है कि अल्लाह, पापों को क्षमा नहीं कर सकता। क्योंकि इससे संसार पापों से भर जाएगा और कोई स्वार्थी पाप करके क्षमा याचना कर लेगा, फिर पाप करेगा। यह कुविचार उस समय सह़ीह़ हो सकता है जब अल्लाह को एक इनसान मान लिया जाए, जो यह न जानता हो कि जो व्यक्ति क्षमा माँग रहा है उसके मन में क्या है? अल्लाह तो मर्मज्ञ है, वह जानता है कि किसके मन में क्या है? फिर "तौबा" इसका नाम नहीं कि मुख से इस शब्द को बोल दिया जाए। तौबा (पश्चाताप) मन से पाप न करने के संकल्प का नाम है और अल्लाह तआला जानता है कि किसके मन में क्या है?
